We have received numerous reports of fraudulent sites illegally using the Lotto Sport Italia name or brand. The company constantly monitors the web in order to protect users from online scams, but our intervention is not always sufficient. That is why we have compiled a list of information that can help you recognise fake e-commerce sites and prevent unpleasant shopping experiences.
Is the contact and payment information clear?
Be wary of sites without VAT number, fixed telephone number, physical address and verified email address. All these data are often found at the bottom of the homepage. Generic contact forms should also be suspicious, as should the payment methods accepted: reliable online shops display all available payment methods, as opposed to scam sites, which often only accept credit card payments.
What do the reviews say?
Web reputation is the new calling card and is very easy to check: type the name of the e-commerce + reviews or opinions into Google and you will get feedback from other users who have already made purchases on the site. If the feedback is negative or even nil, you are most likely dealing with a scam site.
Are the prices too low?
All Lotto Sport Italia products are made by the best professionals in the shoe industry from high-quality materials. If the prices are too low or the offers too tempting and far removed from the sales season, you have certainly stumbled upon a scam site.
Is the site secure?
Check the address bar at the top left: a trustworthy site has a closed padlock before the URL, a sign that your data is protected. Whenever you shop online, also make sure that the address starts with https (not http), where the ‘s’ stands for ‘secure’ and indicates a secure connection. Unfortunately, some fake sites use the same wording, and it is difficult to differentiate them from trustworthy sites.
